ABSTRACT

For all the ages and countries of the world, music has occupied the most protion for civilizing the humanbeing, which we can figure out how mush the old great men devoted themselves to the music education. Through reviewing the effect at that time left on the music ducation by Confucius, the Gaeat Sage who was a souce of oriental origin thought and Plato, the great philosopher in Greece who was left the imperishable footprint of the western ideas, we come to understand the will of the improtance of its emphasis bh surpassing of the age and place for music education. I studied the bockground of philosophic ideas and aducational value misic form treor or Ye-Ak of Ye-Ki and the Analects of Confucius(B.C 552-479, bywhich I have understood the necessity of music education. Also Plato(B.C 427-347) built up the view of value of music education by his work Aesthetics and theory of State , and through his cognition of `Idea` in the phenomenal world he made the theory of music education actuality; namely music and harmony of balance making effect form space formation to the humanbeing`s soul. There was about a hundred years gap between Confucius and Plato, and distance between them to be orient and westrn, but they are of the same opinion at the point that it must, root on the music education, most of all, for the true human education to make harmony with moral education. By the country and age the music education undergoes a change of enforcement way, and the trend of music thought and educational method also was variously built up the social organization. But most of all, the key point of view in the idea of music education is jut to success from ancient times to modern times through a mediator, music, to cognize enjoying to be more cozy and rechness of mind out of the flood of material civilization to be growing hard-hearted, and to contribute to a fluence of each racial culture by closed mutual understanding of culture and arts between the orient and western.
