A Study on an analysis of Notation used in Korean Music on Elementary School Music Textbook Based on the Curriculum Revised in 2009

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to examine changes of notation used in Korea music on elementary school music textbook from 5th curriculum to curriculum revised in 2007 and also to analyze in detail notation used in Korea music on elementary school music textbook based on the curriculum revised in 2009. As a result music notation mostly used staff notation in elementary school music textbook based on the 5th curriculum. Jeongganbo was first used and drew Sigimsae on staff notation in elementary school music textbook based on the 6th curriculum. Danso pieces only used Jeongganbo and marked a dot on the Yulmyeong to stand for a high note an octave In elementary school music textbook based on the 7th curriculum. Garakseonbo(note drawn by the tune line) was added in elementary school music textbook based on the curriculum revised in 2007. Especially Yulmyeong made of Chinese characters, longitudinal Jeongganbo, dotted lines and solid lines to distinguish between small beat and normal beat, accent of Jangdan and meter such as 4/♩ is used. Notation reflected the personality of Korean music in this curriculum. The notation of Korean music on elementary school music textbook based on the curriculum revised in 2009 was more diversified and developed. Staff notation was used generally in every song. Jeongganbo and Garakseonbo was also used in activities associated with singing. This Jeongganbo is longitudinal and used Yulmyeong made of Chinese characters. This notation is traditional way. In instrumental activities, Both horizontal type and longitudinal type of Jeongganbo was used. Musics of Danso and Sogum utilized longitudinal Jeongganbo and Yulmyeong made of Chinese characters. There were many notations in appreciation and other activities. Here are the staff notation, Jeongganbo, Garakseonbo, notation composed of three lines, notation composed of three lines, notation composed of four lines, Gueumbo, Yulmyeong, sign, pictures, etc. These were provided effective learning materials.
