ABSTRACT

A student`s incapability in performing any musical instruments or in composing musical pieces does not coincide with the fact that he is musically inable or nontalented. On the contrary, he could be more musically-born and better adaptable to musical education. Furthermore, there is a possibility that he could own very keen sensitivity and be fond of music with his abundant capabillity. Therefore, in musical education, the emphasis should be put more on the improvement of musical sincerity, musical sensibility and talent of the individual, rather than the achievement of technical skills. In this sense, this study, one of the very special aptitude test, is aimed at measuring objectively the degree and level of musical talent. Accordingly, we can measure a student`s six basic abilities of musical talent that is, rhythm, timbre, time, loudness, pitch and tonal memory; plus, tonal movement which deals with musical sense, and pitch-rhythm imagery. We can study these eight areas respectively through analytical measurement and also we can evaluate these synthetically, for each student. As the result of this study, we can find out the followings: 1. We can test individual tendency of musical talent in each eight areas realatively. 2. We can test individual tendency of musical talent in total. 3. we can find out weak points an individual and devise proper measures for correction and improvement. 4. We can compare the degree of improvement through regular test in every six months or a year. 5. We can use this test as a means of educational research.
