A valibity Study of the advanced Medsures of Music Audiation for Korea Students

ABSTRACT

Music Aptitude tests are useful for educating students effectively, especially, for students who wants to learn music. Advanced Measures of Music Audiation (AMMA) is mainly desired for music students in universities and high schools. This paper is written to verify if AMMA can be used for Korean students. The purpose of the paper is to investigate the reliability and validity of AMMA for Korean students. One hundred one first grade music junior high school students (7th grade in the U.S system) anf 91 first grade music high school students (10th grade in the U.S system) in Seoul participated in the study. The AMMA composite reliability of the junior high school students was .66. The composite reliability of the high school students was .59. The intercorrelatin of AMMA was .46. The average item difficulty was 65.6, and the average item discrimination was .19. The conclusion of this study is that the use of AMMA for Korean students is questionable. But other studies with different groups are needed to reach a more definite conclusion.
