ABSTRACT

The current music society is faced to the centralization phenomenon following famous musicians. So, we have to study the problems of provincial music and suggest some solutions. This research is made to help provincial music`s establishment as International. It is a fact that provincial music circles are now making every efforts to develop musical civilization under poor circumstances. However, the audience are likely to prefer attending some famous musicians or performing groups. At a result, the provincial musicians finally lost their audience and shrunk their musical activities. Moreover, the performance of famous international musicians(groups) makes much worse. We want to give some suggestions for growing provincial musical activities. 1. We should level up the music`s quality through the development of criticism and we have to keep up the pride of local art. We have to avoid the blood relations, school relations and regional relations aiming for fully open-minded consciousness. 2. We have to raise qualified music and citizen`s self-pride through the modernized cultural hall`s building. The building of cultural hall must be done in advance and should be for next generation instead of current generation. In order to build the cultural hall, all the regional concerned parties should pay keen attention to this and invest with a good will. Moreover, the investment of enterprisers concerned about music is much desirable. 3. We always keep in mind that the most provincial is the most common. We do not need to follow the fixed culture(Seoul or foreign music). We need to develop regional specific character such as Kosung Okwangdae representing Kyongnam province and regional festival. So, Kyongnam province is to be acknowledged as international. The culture cannot be built in a day. When all of us go forward step by step and corporate together. We believe that Kyongnam province can be obtained international reputation in musical culture.
