The Annual Curriculum of Children Music Instruction by Means of Listening

ABSTRACT

This research has developed the annual curriculum for three - year - old children listening instruction and proved the effect. This researcher has developed the annual curriculum by applying music elements and methods which are for the sake of listening instruction, based on modern progressive music teaching methods. This curriculum which starts in the firstweek in March and ends in the second week in February, is composed of 30-minute-a-week listening appreciation, singing and play to do listening instruction by stages, systematically and consistently. The researcher applied music elements which correspond to sound, language and music to this curriculum and utilized music methods such as conversation, singing, movement, rhythm play, melody play, instrument play, theater play, music appreciation, and creation. These methods include already known methods, the education ministry data, a variety of documents, and methods developed by this researcher. This researcher did listening ability test for infants and questionnair for parents to verify this curriculum. As a result of the validity of this curriculum, experiment groups are proved to be superior in terms of listening ability average score in many music provinces, to comparison groups. Parents showed very positive opinions on this listening instruction and want cons instruction to be done to four-year-old children. This research will be developed into curriculum which can be connected to four and five year old children. And to do better inst instructor training, teaching material and instrument development and mutual program with parents will be complemented.
