The Development of the Tests of Music Performance and National Norms for the Third and Fourth Grade Elementary School Students in Korea

ABSTRACT

This study had been conducted to develop a test instrument for assessing music performance-related behaviors of Korean elementary school students ranging from grade three to grade four, and to develop national'. norms for the developed performance test. In the first phase of the study categories of performance behaviors were established and the rubric for assessing the behaviors which were intended to minimize differences attributed to evaluators ' subjective opinions. In the last phase of the study the performance test which was developed in the first phase of the study was administered to the sample groups of students whom were selected systematically from the 16 local educational districts. Based on the data resulting from the nationally administered tests national norms for the test were finally developed.
