The purpose of this study was to analyze the operational conditions and contents of the professional applied music curriculum. And thereby, explore the ways to improve the system of the textbooks for the applied music curriculum. For this purpose, the researcher investigated the relevant data in an effort to examine the organization of the curriculum and textbooks for art schools or professional high schools. Thereupon, the researcher conducted a questionnaire survey for teachers and students about their needs for professional. As a result, it was possible to sum up applied music experts' and educators' opinions to set a direction for organization of tl1e high school applied music textbooks, while developing a model for composition of tl1e applied music textbooks conducive to students' self- initiated and active learning.
