The Development of a Rubric of Music Performance Test for Primary-Secondary Students in Korea

ABSTRACT

This study is in a part of developing an assessing tool for establishing the music performance standards for Korean school-aged students. In the initial phase of the study, theories on music performance standards were examined. Theories included National Standards for Music Education in tl1e U.S. and National Music Curriculum in Korea as well as National Assessment of Educational Progress. Then, based on the theories examined, the main factor for assessing singing, playing, and improvising was mainly focused on. Finally, the performance test was developed with rubrics for assessing the students.
