ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to investigate the trends of research in early childhood music education. To achieve this, relevant theses and dissertations from the universities of South Korea were analyzed based on content, the kinds of majors, universities, and by decade. Overall, there are more studies now than in the past, with a rapid increase over the last 10 years. More research in early childhood music education originated from the music education major than from the early childhood major. The main research themes were instructional methods and music program. The number of studies with the theme of Korean traditional music education has increased recently. More diverse themes and approaches to early childhood music education are suggested.
