A Phenomenological Study on the Children`s Singing in the Early childhood Classroom

ABSTRACT

This study attempted to a phenomenological approach to the various ways of singing sung by children in early childhood classrooms. The singing as one of activities in music education for young children is viewed as more than the music. It is one of way of reflecting children`s life and story as children utilize them in various ways for joyful play, and knowing. The study took about 10 weeks to collect the data, which involved non-participatory observations, video-taping, and researcher` journal. The results of the study showed that young children are very capable of using singing in order to interact with the teachers and peers in closer ways. They are also able to utilize singing to make boring time joyful and to make a strong friendship. This study discussed that the early childhood teachers should be more attentive to children`s singing, as more than music but as the expressing their joyful knowledge, intelligent and aesthetic mind.
