A Consideration of Pioneering and practice of Creative Music Making in Japanese Music Education

ABSTRACT

This study aims to investigate the practice of creative music making(CMM) in Japanese music education from the perspectives of history, text, curriculum, and research, and discuss the points that it can suggest as to Korean music education. Suggestions presented as a result of discussion are widely summarized into suggestions of intention and sublation. Suggestions of intention include drastic change from a composition of traditional creation study into creative music making, consideration of music education administration in one's country for introduction of foreign theory, continuous application in curriculum, and etc. Suggestions of sublation include insufficiency of teaching and learning contents that are practical, effective, and creative in text, tendency that music making activity becomes sound making activity, creative music making that is practiced only in capital area for a long time, creative music making interspersed with opaque music style, lack of play practice of works composers wrote, practice of making le music which is related to traditional music style of one's country in comparison with that which is related to Western music style, and etc.
