The Development of Musical Arts Program for the Elementary and Secondary School Students based on the National Music Curriculum

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to develop musical arts program for the elementary and secondary school students to expand accessibility to the in-depth and meaning musical experience based on the national music curriculum. The musical arts program in this study are focused as follows; (1) the field-based practice on the national music curriculum, (2) the systematic support of music teaching in schools, (3) the continuous cooperative system between school and musician or music group, and (4) the use of music mediator. Through the analysis of arts education programs in Korea and other countries and the survey of the perception of students` and teachers`, the researcher could have some important ideas and make more creative and advanced musical arts education programs of our own. The components of musical arts program are constructed program goals, themes, music contents, musical activities, and musical works for the students.
