The Actual Condition and the Teachers` Perception of Multicultural Music Education for the Preschoolers

ABSTRACT

The purpose of the study was to analyse the perception of teachers and the actual condition on the multicultural early childhood music program in order to provide the principle data for the development of multicultural early childhood music education. Survey was performed with 154 preschool teachers in B city and the data was analyzed utilizing SPSS 14.0. Research results are as follows: First, the teachers are recognised the deficiency of the educational materials and times for implementing multicultural music education for their young children in classroom and their satisfaction degree was low. But the teachers` perception on the necessity of the multicultural early childhood music education was quite high, and to develop one`s self-efficacy and to recognize the culture diversity as well as to learn about anti-biased view, equality, cooperation are highly respected by the subjects. In conclusion, need for the development of mutilcultural music education program which could be applied to the preschooler`s class appropriately the teacher`s training for this is requested of preschools with ease and appropriately is requested.
