An Analysis of Music-Related Activities the National Five Years Old Nun Curriculum Teacher`s Guide Books

ABSTRACT

This study investigates objectives, contents areas, instructional methods, assessment, and integrated aspects of music-related activities presented in the national five years old Nun curriculum guide books for teachers. A total of 97 music-related activities from 11 guidebooks, published in Febrary 2012, were analyzed for this study. The results indicated that musical objectives rarely include musical concepts, attitudes and musical behaviors except singing and musical attitudes. The music education contents areas rarely include music making and musical dramas. The instructional methods used in music-related activities include with priority given to teacher`s initiated large group method and singing focused concepts. The assessment of music-related activities was the most frequent musical attitudes. With regard to the integrated aspects employed in the music-related activities, integrating the subjects into the curriculum was most often presented.
