This study was to provide 20th century pedagogical piano repertoire for intermediate students to promote an interest and an understanding of 20th century music and to develop comprehensive keyboard skills. Vast amount of piano literature were collected, reviewed, and carefully examined before a final decision was made in selecting the pieces which contain valuable musical and pedagogical points. The pieces chosen for the study were presented in four areas including ``composer album``, ``technical skill``, musical style`, and ``20th century compositional technique``. Based on the review of related literuare, the study discussed the following topics: ① educational values of teaching contemporary piano music; ② characteristics of 20th century writing and compositional techniques of contemporary piano music; ③ criteria for selecting pieces; ④ the process of investigating and selecting 20th century intermediate repertoire; and ⑤ definition of intermediate piano student. There is a difficulty in assessing contemporary piano teaching materials. The repertoire lists classified into several areas would be a valuable resource for repertoire selection and help piano teachers become acquainted with 20th century intermediate piano literature.
