ABSTRACT

The purpose of the study is to develop music teacher efficacy scale and verify its validation. In the process, music teacher efficacy preliminary scale was constructed based on the previous study that had been identified job-related areas that affect music teachers` efficacy and its components in each job-related area. The preliminary scale was administered to 463 elementary and secondary music teachers and the data was analyzed. As a result, a total of 31 items with 9 sub-constructs in the 5 areas was identified by the means of the exploratory factor analyses, thus clearly establishing the construct validity. The overall internal consistency was quite high(Cronbach a =95). In addition, the concurrent validity between this scale and the general self-efficacy scale was established. The overall level of music teacher efficacy was of no significance according to the variables of school and gender; however the overall music teacher efficacy level was of significance according to the variable of education level.
