A Study on Instructional Methods of Koryeo Gayo in Elementary school

ABSTRACT

This study is to analyze ``Koryeo Gayo`` based on both historical and cultural education and music educational perspective for the present educational method of ``Koryeo Gayo`` in Elementary schools by then selecting teaching objects and contents to analyze the 2007 revised music curriculum and sociology textbook and to seek the educational method. Teaching objects are chosen for the sixth grade and according to the plan the class is conducted in three stages. In the first stage students learn ``Koryeo Gayo`` by listening to music and paying attention to the lyrics and rhythmic sense. At the second stage they sing a song of longing for my mother and beat rhythm. In the third stage the students play the Sogeum(small bamboo flute). I regulated the length of subject matter songs according to the students` level and suggested it. I devised and suggested sheet music story materials based on the theme so that the students may learn various types of korean classical music and expand their musicality.
