ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate the aim and characteristics of performance evaluation from a viewpoint of music education, and to develop a practical evaluation program for elementary schools. Some features of a practical program were discussed, and the relationship of music curriculum between performance evaluation methods and various examples were provided. Generally speaking, performance evaluation shows the process of student`s growing. However, performance evaluation has not been applied widely in schools due to insufficient understanding of performance evaluation, lack of evaluation programs, and burden of time and effort. The focus of this study is to develop a practical program of evaluation for elementary music classes. We expect this study to cotribute toward developing more programs those can be used for performance evaluation by music teachers without difficulty.
