The purpose of this study is to find the character elements that heighten the intensity of educational effects for character education and the educational methodologies in music subject. The character elements in music subject are Respect, Trustworthiness, Responsibility, Caring, Fairness, Citizenship, and Aesthetics. For this study, these elements were analyzed based on music curriculum, and adapted to music activities of middle school grades 1-3. Music subjects are organized in three parts - “Expression,” “Appreciation,” “usage of life”- and each part has emphasizing character element respectively. “Expression”part that cultivates musical expression is effective to raise ‘Respect, Faith, Responsibility, Caring’. “Appreciation” part that learns musical fundamental elements and various music is effective to learn ‘Respect, Caring, Fairness, Citizenship’. “usage of life” part that is useful for self-expression and communication in daily life is effective to learn ‘Respect, Trustworthiness, Responsibility, Fairness, Citizenship’.
