The purpose of this study is to seek the educational method of folk song with genre painting for living cultural education. For that, I at first consider genre painting, and I suggest folk songs which are possible to graft onto genre paintings. Secondly, I chose teaching contents and objects by considering features of folk song and educational curriculum, and by analyzing the 2009 revised music curriculum. Teaching objects are chosen for the third or forth grade, and according to the plan, the class is conducted in two stages, where the contents are composed in music activities based on musical essence. I suggested teaching examples according to the teaching level. Throughout this study, I expect that the students will know Korean music properly and expand their musicality by learning various types of Korean classical music.
