ABSTRACT

Recently, school curriculum has been amended and announced several times; announcement of 2007 school curriculum (Dec. 31, 1997 ), announcement of 2007 revised school curriculum (Feb. 28, 2007), announcement of 2009 school curriculum autonomy (Sep. 2009) and amendment and announcement of 2009 revised school curriculum (Dec. 23, 2009). This study has attempted to discuss the followings from diverse perspectives through analysis on the use of new textbooks in school According to the analysis, Textbook A has a relatively large portion for ‘singing,’ and the evaluation part seems effective in class. In Textbook B, there were various attempts to change contents and method, focusing on activity-centered units. The units were arranged by activity with diverse teaching methods, and frequency by section is mostly balanced. Textbook C is similar to the previous textbook in terms of form with the arrangement of title songs. The singing section accounts for a great portion with little teaching and learning parts. The suggestion method is also simpler than other textbooks. From a music teacher’s perspective, it is necessary to keep working hard to develop textbooks which are easy to teach for teachers and easy to learn for students through analysis on various school textbooks.
