The Effects of a Music Creating Program based on the Integration of the Art Subjects on the Musical Creativity of Fifth Grade Students in Elementary School

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to develop a music creating program based on the integration of the art subjects and investigate the effects of the program on the musical creativity of the students. A music creating program was developed based on the integration of the art subjects, consisting of 25 lessons under three themes. This study was conducted to 29 elementary students of Grade 5 of Y School in Anyang city. An inventory on musical creativity, MCTM-II was conducted before and after applying the program to measure statistical changes. The findings of the research is that the music creating program based on the integration of the art subjects had significant effects on musical extensiveness, musical fluency, musical originality, and musical syntax. The qualitative analysis was also conducted to overcome the statistical analysis results. Overall, this program promoted the students`` understanding of music concepts, music appreciation abilities, increasing their sociality and learning motivation.
