This research investigated the effects of multiple representation activities using Orff approach on young children’s musical expressing abilities as well as differences among sub-areas of these abilities. Subjects were two 5-year-old classes of P kindergartens in S city, Gyeonggi-Do. They were divided into 25 kids of the experimental group and 25 children of the comparative group, and they were applied to the multiple representation activities utilizing the Orff approach. Results of this study were as follows. First, the multiple representation activities using the Orff approach had positive influences on all sub-areas of young children’s musical expressing abilities; expecially, music-making ability had the most impact on their musical expressing abilities. Second, the multiple representation activities using the Orff approach had an effect on overall musical expressing abilities such as singing songs, playing musical instruments, physical expressions, music-making abilities, and so on. Research findings confirmed that the multiple representation activities using the Orff approach could promote young children’s musical expressing abilities.
