ABSTRACT

The musical activities, such as choir activities, are decreasing in elementary school nowadays. This paper aims at presenting realities of music education, pointing out some problems, and suggesting a program with which primary schools vitalize choir - building activities as well as choir activities. Instead external motivation, such as choral festival competitions, an internal motivation is required. The presenting program internally motivates primary school students to participate choral activities voluntarily. This program includes vocalization as bodily expression for the children, and choral repertoire which includes the selected songs from textbook, and of integral part of daily life. The program can be applied as following: firstly, teachers experience choral activities. Then, teachers lead students with their own voices and without sheet music. The purpose of this paper is to present a suggestion to vitalize choir activities in classroom as well as choir team.
