A Comparison of the Composition Products by Measuring Instruments -with CAT, MCTM, Cantometrics-

ABSTRACT

The definition and assessment of creativity can not help varying by defining which terms and assessing which instruments. For understanding about creativity, it needs to know the nature of each measuring instruments of creativity and then to investigate how theses natures affect assessment. In this study, in order to investigating each characteristic of measuring instruments, it was carried out measuring Consensual Assessment Technique, Measure of Creative Thinking in Music and cantometrics aimded at 20 third grade students’ composition products. As a results, creativity in CAT was related with musical originality, musical syntax in MCTM, and similarity in cantometrics significantly. And similarity in cantometrics was related with not technical goodness but creativity in CAT. The chart of cantometrics of creativity high group, musical originality high group, and similarity high group was similar to that of Lipscomb et al.(2003). They mostly used the form repetitive with some variation, longer phrase, much more phrase, wider keyboard range.
