Analysis of the Level of Teacher`s Efficacy and Teacher`s Commitment in Secondary General Music Teachers

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to analyze of the level of teacher’s efficacy and teacher’s commitment in secondary general music teachers. For this purpose, the tool used to measure has been chosen based on the prior studies with proven validity and reliability, and it was used to analyze resources from 397 secondary general music teachers. According to the result of the study, teacher’s efficacy was significant according to gender, teaching career, music education related experiences such as academic societies or teacher’s communities, a teacher trainer or a university lecturer, and award winning career. In addition, teacher’s commitment was significant according to academic background, music education related experiences such as academic societies or teacher’s communities, a teacher trainer or a university lecturer, and award winning career. This study suggests that music teachers`` gender, teaching carrier should be taken into account while developing a training program for improving teacher efficacy. In addition, institutional strategies should be provided for the improvement of academic background of music teachers, as well as to encourage their participation in teacher’s communities and research competition, in order to increase the degree of teacher commitment.
