This study aimed to understand the glocality of the music education in Japan. The research analyzes the regional and global features about three field: ‘scale’, ‘instruments’, ‘musical notation’ investigating elementary school music textbooks in Japan, The subjects are 153 songs that is presented in six of elementary school music textbooks of grade 1-6 published in Japanese education publishing(敎育出版). In conclusion, first, overall music textbooks in Japan emphasize locality and globality simultaneously and it could be showed that those have glocality, Second, the scale appears that locality is emphasized considerably because the scale is about 28% consisting of the traditional scale of Japan(8.5%) and modern Japanese scale(19.6%). Third, the types of instrument are suggested very variously and moved toward global areas; traditional Japanese instruments(31.3%), Western instruments, and other instruments of the world. Finally, there is no instructions of Japanese traditional musical notation, but only staff notation is used for education.
