ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to develop an instructional model for music making activities applying project learning. For this purpose, the researcher examined the theories and researches such as project learning, music making, musical creativity, and constructive approach. Based on these theories and researches, this model consisted of the three stages: 1) ‘preparatory stage’ before music class, 2) ‘implementation processes’ stage in class, and 3) ‘evaluation’ stage after class. Among these stages, the implementation processes stage includes the following five subcategories: 1) ‘topic selection’, 2) ‘establishment of a plan’, 3) ‘exploring music’(ex. various sounds, musical elements and concept, materials, and so on), 4) ‘creative expression’(transformation, composition, making, and musical convergence), and 5) ‘practice and reflection’. This study will have a positive effect in improving the teaching and learning of music.
