The purpose of this study is to investigate the actual situation of music program for the free semester system for middle schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi province and the awareness of teachers and students who directly experienced it. The survey was administered to 413 schools, 551 students and 5 teachers in Seoul and Gyeonggi province. As a result, it was found that the free semester system music program was influenced by the school program, teacher `s expertise, and student interest. In order for music education for free semester system to be effective, it is necessary to develop diverse music programs that would stimulate student`s interest and involvement, and support schools and teachers.
