Contemplating Social Discourses on Arts Education in 21st Century and Implications for Music Education

ABSTRACT

This study explored the role and value of art education discussed in International society through social discourses and related researches. The International community views reflective and creative power of arts as the Driving force of educational reform. In addition to expanding opportunities for art Education around the world, the importance of art education is emphasized in Various perspectives such as education in art and education through arts . At The same time, it was also confirmed that the positive educational effect expected from art education is based on ensuring the quality of education based on the essence of art. The quality of art education has shown to be closely related to direct experience based on the essential characteristics of each artistic area, professionalism of teaching factors to experience artistic inquiry, partnership and collaboration of education community and government, and environmental factors centered on art. Based on this understanding, this study discussed the issue of the meaning and the quality of music education based on the essence of music education in the future value and role setting of music education expected in modern society.
