The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of music subject related SEL program applied by structure-centered cooperative learning that was developed as a strategy for implementing SEL in school curriculum. For this,the music subject related SEL program was applied to sixty one students who were 5th and 6th graders in two elementary schools. In order to determine the effects of the program,Strong Kids assessment tools,lesson videos, students worksheets, teachers journals, students interview were collected and analyzed. Results of this study showed that the music subject related SEL program applied by structure-centered cooperative learning has positive effects on reducing elementary school students social-emotional symptoms, increasing the level of their social-emotional knowledge, and improving their social-emotional assets and resilience. Also, the program helps in improving SEL core competencies which are self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. This indicates that SEL is necessary to be consistently implemented to upper elementary school students and adolescent, and is useful for enhancing their social-emotional competence.
