ABSTRACT

In relation to music teaching intention of the pre-service early childhood teachers, this research examines the influences of the musical environment at home, the music engagement, and the music teaching efficacy of the pre-service early childhood teachers. This study also examines the mediating effect of the music teaching efficacy. For the purpose of the research, the survey questionnaire were distributed to 260 pre-service early childhood teachers, and finally, 240 copies were used as the research materials. To analyze the data, the correlation analysis, the simple regression analysis, and the multiple regression analysis were carried out by using the PASW 18.0 program. The result shows that the music engagement and the music teaching efficacy of the pre-service early childhood teachers had the influences on the music teaching intention. Regarding the music teaching efficacy, it completely mediated in the relationship between the musical environment at home and the music teaching intention, and it partially mediated in the relationship between the music engagement and the music teaching intention. The results of this research imply that a plan for increasing the music teaching efficacy and the proactive endeavors of the teachers to enjoy and use music through diverse musical engagement in daily lives must be sought after.
