ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to develop teaching materials in Korean traditional music creative class based on ARCS model in Keller s theory of learning motivation and to verify the effect of the developed teaching materials on the learners motivation and the instructor s self-confidence. Using the Korean traditional music creation material developed through the ADDIE model, the four classes were held for a total of 95 first grade high school students, and experiments were conducted to confirm the effectiveness of the material. Keller(1987)’s CIS(Course Interest Survey) was used to confirm learner’s interest level, and a open-ended questionnaire was used to confirm teacher’s confidence. As s result, the developed Korean traditional music creation class material increased the students attention, instruction, confidence, and satisfaction in the lessons of the learners. In addition, the material increased the teacher’s confidence in the classes.
