A Study on Teaching Methods for Elementary Music Appreciation Using Visual Thinking

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to seek an effective method for elementary music appreciation class using the visual thinking technique that focuses on “the visualization of thinking”. To this end, this research reviewed the concept of visual thinking and the method for applying it to class. Subsequently, it explored the possibility of application by establishing the stages for music appreciation teaching using visual thinking, by developing a class sample by applying visual thinking to each class group, and by performing the class. This study showed that positive effects could be sufficiently exercised by the application of visual thinking to elementary music appreciation class.
