A Method for Teaching Korean Traditional Music Creative Class with the Use of Teaching Aids

ABSTRACT

This study developed a method for teaching Korean traditional music creative class with the use of teaching aids. For this purpose, a set of Samsobak cards that utilize the basic principles of Jeongganbo and a melody making tool are used. The results are as follows. Samsobak cards are used for rhythm formats and the utilization of lyrics, by omitting, exchanging, and adding rhythm cards, they are led to students’ understanding of the relationship and the principles of rhythm formats and the utilization of lyrics. The melody making tool is used for the melody making activity with 2 notes, 3 notes, yukjabaegitori, and menaritori rhythms. A melody is composed by using note cards and note color cards on the teaching aid board.
