Trends of Assessment Research in Music Education

ABSTRACT

This study was intended to analyze the trends in music assessment research over the last 30 years in Korea to find the limitations and suggest implications for future research. The selected 74 papers were categorized and analyzed by research subjects, contents, research method, and whether it is achievement or aptitude that is being assessed. According to the results, the number of music assessment research increased gradually and they diversified in terms of subjects, research contents, and research methods. Mostly, the subjects were compound/no specific subjects , and the least frequently studied subjects were adults and special need students. The most frequently used research method was content analysis, and the mostly studeid research content was development of assessment tools.
