ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to apply the responsive evaluation to a qualitative study focusing on the participants’ experiences in the music education program for low-income juveniles conducted at University A. The results of analyzing the experiences and needs through the program targeting 66 juveniles are as follows. First, several issues related to the educational contents by the musical level, the trust formation with the instructor, and the participants’ demand arose from participants’ reactions. Second, the program’s issues were improved during the program process, and positive changes were acquired for the participants’ responses. As a result of this study, program research based on the responsive evaluation provided high satisfaction for participants by examining and improving participants’ experiences.
