ABSTRACT

This study aims to explore the way of designing the content system for the competency- based music curriculum by comparatively analyzing the 2015 revised music curriculum in Korea and the music curriculum in BC, Canada. Based on the results, the following suggestions are made to improve the way of designing the content system: establishing music subject competency based on the essence of the music subject and connecting core competencies with a focus on subject competencies, structuralizing the content system with a focus on subject competencies, designing the content system for instructors to secure autonomy and flexibility in reconstructing the curriculum, presenting a hierarchy of each component of the content system, and presenting contents about the process and procedural aspects of learning.
