The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of melody in Mongolian music through music listening grounded in body movement and to present a music teaching and learning guide for elementary and secondary school students. This study first examines the influence of cultural context on music and the roles of music listening in world music education. Secondly, it investigates the musical and cultural meanings of two songs to identify key elements of music listening. Thirdly, it examines the significance of Campbell’s "Engaged Listening" from the perspective of Jaques-Dalcroze’s active listening. Based on that, it devises music listening strategies and applies them to the teaching and learning guide for two Mongolian songsᅠaimed at elementary and secondary students. This study is expected to provide valuable insights for teachers to recognize body movement as a fundamental way of experiencing world music through music listening.
