Utilization of Music Notation as an Adaptation of Sundanese Music Learning Technology

ABSTRACT

Music notation in Sundanese music learning has not been implemented for too long. Only in the Mang Koko era was the implementation of this learning technology optimised for educational activities. The activity of reading and writing music notation is important to be familiarised and developed. The goal is to strengthen the scientific paradigm in Sundanese music. The implementation is done at the level of Sundanese music practice and research. The research method used is qualitative with a case study design. Data were collected through several techniques, namely interviews, literature studies, and documentation studies. Furthermore, the data were analysed using content analysis techniques. The findings of this study, namely music notation is one of the steps in the adaptation of Sundanese musical learning technology carried out during the Mang Koko era. His educational and socio-cultural background has formed a paradigm and concept of thinking that the use of music notation is an important step for the development of students in learning Sundanese music comprehensively.
