The purpose of this study was to find out how music teachers prepare and perceive retirement and to understand the demands for retirement preparation education. Statistical analysis was conducted after a survey of 102 music teachers nationwide, and the average score of each question, gender, and age group were analyzed. The perception of retirement was above average score(3.0) in most of the questions. However, on the question about how well the specific retirement plan was practiced, it showed below average score. The needs for retirement preparation education showed high score from most of the surveyees. As a result of examining the gender differences, men's scores were high in retirement perception, while women's scores for retirement preparation education were high. On the other hand, music teachers hope to continue to revive their careers in life after retirement, but the content of the retirement preparation education program required more practical problems that could be encountered after retirement. Based on the results of this study, we hope that specific strategies for retirement and retirement preparation education for music teachers will be discussed.
