ABSTRACT

This study investigates how autonomous self-perception among Chinese international students in Korea influences their desire for star identification, fan community identification, and perception of Hallyu (the KoreanWave), and further examines how Hallyu perception affects satisfaction with Korean music education. A total of 197 survey responses were analyzed through reliability and validity testing, exploratory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The majority of respondents were female and in their 20s, reflecting the characteristics of the younger generation. Results revealed that autonomous self-perception significantly predicted star identification desire and fan community identification desire. Fan identification positively influenced Hallyu perception, which in turn significantly enhanced satisfaction with music education. These findings suggest that individuals’ autonomy and fandom identification play a crucial role in Hallyu acceptance and educational satisfaction, highlighting the need for strategic development of Hallyu-based music education programs.
